Being a female, I have learned to become good at storing things. Extra tissues, food, dog toys, glass jars, supplements (of course) and emotions. I feel most of us females are way too efficient at this. From a very young age, we observe those around us (especially our mothers), intuitively doing as they do. My mom felt she had to be strong and, for whatever reason, being strong and showing emotion did not go together. So I did as she did, I grew up “strong and not showing emotion”. My famous line, “I’m ok”.
“Much of our suffering is due to negative emotional energies that have become trapped within us,” says Dr. Bradley Nelson, author of The Emotion Code. Dr. Bradley believes that our trapped emotions can create pain, body malfunctions and disease. He believes that a “trapped emotion” will always have a physical location in the body.
In Louise L. Hay’s book Heal Your Body she believes that “both the good in our lives and the dis-ease are the results of mental thought patterns which form our experiences”. “Our consistent thinking patterns create our experiences”.
Heal Your Body is a wonderful book. I have used it since the 80’s and have shared it with many. It gives a list of problems, the probable cause, and a new thought pattern or healing affirmation. For example;
- Heartburn – Fear. Fear. Fear. Clutching fear. The affirmation is; “I breath freely and fully. I am safe. I trust the process of life.”
- Acne – Not accepting the self. Dislike of the self. The affirmation; “I am a Divine expression of life. I love and accept myself where I am right now”.
Speak Your Truth
I was told by an intuitive healer, “speak your truth”. Say what’s in your heart; both to yourself and others. If someone is doing/saying things that make you feel less-than-who- you-are, tell them – even if it means making them upset. Don’t be afraid to use the word “No”, and treat yourself as kindly as you would a child. By expressing yourself in this way you are allowing the energy of emotions to flow through you and not get stuck.
Stuck emotions are stressful to the body and can slow down or stop digestion. When that occurs nutrients won’t get absorbed – such as proteins that make up neurotransmitters in our brain needed to help us to feel happy, alert, and optimistic. This may be diagnosed as depression, or anxiety, and prescribed a pharmaceutical drug with no thought to the core cause, stuck emotions, stress and digestion.
I feel we are all a work in progress, and this is part of my work. I’ve decided I would rather store dog toys instead of negative emotions. How about you, what would you rather store?
